Riding an ATV or Side by Side on unpaved roads or trails, including sand, gravel, dirt, grass, mud, rocks, and other natural terrain.
Outfitters provide a suggested route, trail map, and list of sites/attractions to riders who want to adventure on their own.
Jump in a Polaris off-road side-by-side to discover the historic Pioneer Trail in upper Michigan that dates back to the 1930s and early 1940s. This trail was carved into the ancient mountains known locally as the Gogebic Range as part of the Civilian Conservation Corps under President Theodore Roosevelt. This historic trail is widely regarded as the premier scenic trail in the Midwest thanks to dramatic elevation and terrain changes as it weaves through pristine forests and over spring-fed creeks.
You have the opportunity to ride this trail in a Polaris side-by-side rental. You'll love exploring the Pioneer Trail featuring numerous primitive mine locations to hike into, as well as early settler’s camps, dramatic waterfalls, and historic dams. The trail has incredible scenic vistas to capture family photos.
Directly on the trail is a world-class underground mine tour famous in the summer for its 48-degrees escape from the hot summer temperatures. Adventure Mine Tours make for an incredible trailside stop! Nestled into the timber flatlands between the 990,000-acre Ottawa National Forest and the Porcupine Mountains State Park is Hamilton's North Coast Adventure's 1,002-acre private ride park and rental facility.
The pros at Hamilton's will fit your group with helmets. After a safety briefing, your Guide Pros will walk you through all the vehicle features and provide a driving demonstration to qualified drivers, and then walk you through the way points on this ride (that will be pre-programmed into the in-vehicle navigation system).
This is a fun and unforgettable way to experience the best of the UP!
