Riding a snowmobile on groomed snowmobile trails or off trail on snowy or icy terrain.
Adventure guides lead the way, providing riding assistance and local knowledge.
This Gianinetti’s Powersports Rentals tour is for experienced snowmobile riders only. Riders will meet at the shop for a safety orientation, equipment checkout, and waiver completion. Since the starting point of this tour is located 30 minutes from the shop, you’ll drive your car to the trailhead, where you’ll meet your guide and get on the Polaris snowmobile that will be yours for the day. The drive to the trailhead follows along a river and is a beautiful way to start the day.
Once at Long Lost Trailhead, you'll enter Colorado's White River National Forest on the Flat Tops Scenic Byway and enjoy dense evergreen trees. The views near Sand Peak or Pagoda Peak provide a great location for a picnic lunch or group photos.
Throughout the day, plan on covering 30 to 40 miles, with the elevation ranging from 7,500 to 10,500 feet. (If traveling to Colorado from at or near sea level, please allow your body to acclimate to elevation a day or two prior to the ride to avoid altitude sickness.) Advanced, backcountry terrain will take you through narrow trees, by open parks, and near snowy peaks.
Finish off your day at one of Meeker’s great restaurants (La Famiglia has fabulous Italian food), or enjoy the hot tub at the Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation Center. Several local lodging options are available just a few doors away: Trailhead Cabins, Meeker Hotel, Blue Spruce Inn, and White River Inn, to name a few.
