About this Adventure

Your all-electric off-road adventure awaits! Explore the western UP’s most famous trail – The Pioneer ORV Trail – on the world’s first 110HP all electric ORV! The trail teems with dramatic terrain changes, spectacular scenic views that evoke feelings of wild and untamed natural wonders. The trail twists and winds through the dramatic Trap Hills of the greater Gogebic Range.

The ride begins from Hamilton’s North Coast Adventure Campground rental office that has trail access right from our driveway. Truck/Trailer parking available on site near campground. The route is approximately 90 miles. If you average 25 MPH while moving, with three 30 minute charges, your expected ride day will last 8.5 hours Jump in a Polaris Off-Road Side-by-Side to discover the historic Pioneer Trail in upper Michigan that dates back to the 1930s and early 1940s.

This trail was carved into the ancient mountains known locally as the Gogebic Range as part of the Civilian Conservation Corps under President Theodore Roosevelt. This historic trail is widely regarded as the premier scenic trail in the Midwest thanks to dramatic elevation and terrain changes as it weaves through pristine forests and over spring-fed creeks.

You have the opportunity to ride this trail in a Polaris Side-by-Side rental. You'll love exploring the Pioneer Trail featuring numerous primitive mine locations to hike into, as well as early settler’s camps, dramatic waterfalls, and historic dams. The trail has incredible scenic vistas to capture family photos. Directly on the trail is a world-class underground mine tour famous in the summer for its 48-degrees escape from the hot summer temperatures. Adventure Mine Tours make for an incredible trailside stop! Nestled into the timber flatlands between the 990,000-acre Ottawa National Forest and the Porcupine Mountains State Park is Hamilton's North Coast Adventure's 1,002-acre private ride park and rental facility.

Trail difficulty ranges from paved forest roads to gravel forest roads, to rutted forest roads, and rocky trails.

TAKE PICTURES! Our area is covered with gorgeous wildflowers and flowering vegetation throughout the year. In August you can make a meal of wild raspberries and black berries. Be alert of wildlife, you will get much closer to them in an E-ORV than any other vehicle, so have the camera ready!
