About This Adventure

See the Chesapeake Bay from a new perspective and explore the eastern shore of Virginia! The route, suitable for novice riders and above, begins at Indian® Motorcycle of Southeastern Virginia. The ride distance is 424 miles (just over eight hours of riding). Consider booking an overnight stop so you can take your time to see more sites, including the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, Washington D.C., Fredericksburg, and lots of local attractions and shops.

Cruise across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel (there is a toll on this bridge) and explore what the eastern shore of Virginia has to offer. See the wild ponies at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge or check out the antique stores and small-town life. From there, continue north towards Salisbury, Maryland, and connect to highway 301, which will take you back across the Chesapeake and to the outskirts of Washington D.C. The nation’s capital can be a destination unto itself! Alternatively, you can skip D.C. and continue along the back highways, skirting around Fredericksburg and cruising south back towards the dealership on highway 17. Be sure to stop by Yorktown after you cross the York River and visit the battlefield where the British surrendered in the Revolutionary War.

Eastern Virginia is worthy of a multi-day vacation. This area is so rich in history and activities, it’s impossible to include everything in one list! Be sure to check out the historic triangle of Yorktown, Williamsburg, and Jamestown. In downtown Hampton, you can explore the amazing Virginia Air & Space Science Center and Ft. Monroe. Also be sure to see The Mariner's Museum and Park where the turret from the USS Monitor is being preserved.

Love to try new restaurants? Local favorites include Thaijindesu, Jose Tequilas, Brickhouse Tavern, Viking Burger, and Scratch Bakery.

Indian® Motorcycle rentals are available in full-day and multi-day options.
