About This Adventure

Don’t let the name fool you—this Polaris Slingshot itinerary is positively heavenly. You’ll cover 270 miles on a route that takes about five hours without stops. But you’ll definitely want to make stops. This area is the Grand Canyon of eastern Oregon and western Idaho. The Hells Canyon Scenic Byway takes you along the Snake River, up mountains, and down into valleys with stunning views nearly every mile along the way. While the route can be driven in just over five hours, the team at Owyhee Slingshot Rentals encourages you to slow down and enjoy the journey, ideally with an overnight stop along the way. You’ll cruise through charming small communities loaded with restaurants, rest stops, shops, and art galleries. The Oxbow Dam and Hells Canyon Visitors Center are two worthwhile stops (of many), and consider stopping at Main Place Café & Grill in Halfway or the Shorthorn Bar & Grill in Richland when you’re looking for a spot for lunch or dinner.

Rentals period is for 12 hours.
