Rider Requirements

Other Guest Requirements

All drivers of off-road vehicles are required to have a valid driver's license. All passengers must be able to grasp a handhold with their hands, plant feet firmly on the ground, and have their back fully against the backrest. Helmets and eye protection are always required to be worn when the vehicle is being operated.

To ensure a safe, legal, and enjoyable ride for everyone: * All drivers must have a valid driver’s license to operate a Polaris off-road vehicle. * Minnesota ATV Safety Certification Required: All riders born after July 1, 1987 must have completed an approved ATV Safety Course in order to operate a UTV on Minnesota public trails. Riders must carry proof of certification with them during the adventure. *All passengers must be able to ride securely, including being able to grasp a handhold, keep both feet firmly planted, and sit fully back against the seat. * Helmets and eye protection are required for all riders at all times while the vehicle is being operated. Our team will review all safety guidelines before departure so you can ride confidently and enjoy Minnesota’s Off-Road Triangle responsibly.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans can change, and we do our best to be fair and flexible while also protecting reserved rental time.

One-Time Courtesy Rebooking Guests may request a one-time courtesy rebooking (date change) as long as the request is made more than 72 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. Rebookings are subject to availability and do not apply to cancellations.

Cancellations

Cancellations made more than 7 days prior to the reservation date will be assessed a non-refundable $100 administration fee (plus tax).
Reservations may not be cancelled or modified within 72 hours of the scheduled rental start time.

No-Shows

Guests who do not arrive for their scheduled reservation (“no-shows”) are not eligible for a refund.

Weather Policy

All rentals operate rain or shine, and reservations remain active regardless of weather conditions. For added peace of mind, we strongly recommend purchasing our Sensible Weather Guarantee for weather-related coverage.

How to Cancel

All cancellation requests must be made by phone by speaking directly with a Rental Specialist.

Outfitter Cancellations

In rare cases, Up North Outfitters may need to cancel a reservation due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to:

Unsafe trail conditions
Mechanical issues or damaged rental machines

If we cancel your reservation, you will receive a full refund.

What to bring

Not sure what to wear? Just ask — we’re happy to help you plan for the day.

We recommend bringing:

Closed-toe shoes (boots or sturdy sneakers work best)

Weather-appropriate clothing — layers are ideal in the Northwoods

Sunglasses or eye protection for dust and sun

A light jacket or rain gear, depending on the forecast

Gloves (optional, but great for cooler days)

Snacks and water for longer rides

A phone or camera to capture the scenery and trail memories

A valid driver’s license (required for all drivers)

You’re welcome to bring small backpacks or coolers for personal items, drinks, and trail-day essentials.

Helmets and required safety equipment are provided, but guests are also welcome to bring their own helmet or riding gear if preferred.

We’ll cover everything you need during your safety orientation before you hit the trails!
