Hancock trail connects riders from St. Elmo to Alpine Tunnel via the 12,140-foot Hancock Pass. This route follows the old 1880s railroad grade, passing historic structures & leading to the Alpine Tunnel for a glimpse of Colorado's mining past. Trail is Moderate to Difficult: Most of the trail is easy wide road. At the top of Hancock Pass, riders will experience very rocky and sharp terrain - suitable for RZR’s as long as this section is slow-going. Do not attempt if snow is present. The Alpine Tunnel, once the world’s highest at 11,523 feet, was the first to cross the Continental Divide. When completed, the 1,772-foot tunnel became the most expensive narrow-gauge railroad tunnel of its time, with a station & facilities at its west portal near Hancock Pass. This route starts in St. Elmo & is about 35 miles round trip ( 6 / 7 hours ).

Sand dunes, muddy trails, and rocky hills are no match for this capable machine.
