Hamilton's North Coast Adventures - Wakefield - is nestled just outside the 990,000-acre Ottawa National Forest and the 60,000 acre Porcupine Mountains State Park sitting 2 blocks from snowmobile trail number 2. We are located inside Snow Chaser's Lodge & Hotel on US HWY 2 on the east side of Wakefield.
The famed Hamilton's North Coast Borderland Tour meanders through the magnificent, impeccably-managed, and LOVED Gogebic County Forests that surround the tri-city area of Ironwood, Bessemer, and Wakefield. Departing west on trail 2 for the Metropolis of Ironwood gives access to Gogebic Range Trail Authority's famed trail 160. This 25 mile trail from Ironwood to Superior Falls waterfall complex is well regarded as one of the most scenic snowmobile experiences in all of the Midwest snow belts. The trail brings you through amazing private properties with stunning views of the ancient bluffs that dot the region. Further north riders will see the "Lookout Mountain" Lake Superior overlook, "Bald Mountain" Scenic Vista and TeePee Warming Shelter (It was built in our Ontonagon shop!), the amazing double oxbows of the Montreal River Gorge scenic overlook, and of course the finale of the Superior Falls Waterfall complex. Our snowmobiles are taged for Wisconsin and Michigan, so riders can then drop down into Wisconsin to experience more trails.
The co-major attraction trekking through the famed Porcupine Mountains that house one of the Upper Peninsula's greatest attractions: the Lake of the Clouds. Located inside the park, the slender lake is bordered by gigantic rock escarpments and bluffs, getting the "of the clouds" folklore from the long journey up from Lake Superior to the viewing deck. Ride up the unplowed 107th Engineer's Memorial Highway to this beautiful destination, the most photographed site in the park and all of Michigan. After taking in the incredible view, ride down Trail #11, known as the snowmobile autobahn, as it winds along 20-plus miles of the park's South Boundary road.
Continuing south down Trail #102 to the immense Lake Gogebic area, you will find restaurants and spots to warm up. When you're ready to return to the rental shop to check in your snowmobile, you can choose several trail options to venture back on. Some will be a direct ride back, while others provide a scenic route back with incredible vistas.
The additional sights on your ride back may include: Houghton Lift Bridge, Houghton; Bond Falls, Watersmeet; Mt. Arvon, L'anse; Gabbro Falls, Bessemer; Lake Gogebic, Bergland; Snowmobile Trail 160; and more.
Rider's flock to Hamilton's North Coast Adventures Snowmobile rentals due to the team's obvious life-long dedication to the sport. The staff all volunteer their time on the local trails living and breathing the sport. You won't find a more dedicated staff to insure your snowmobile vacation is the greatest ever!

Smooth-riding and versatile whether you're on the trail or off the map.
