Short on time but big on fun? The Molas Lake Mining Cabin Trail is the perfect introduction to snowmobiling in the San Juan Mountains and a great way to spend a winter afternoon. Tours depart daily at 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM from the Ice Pirates base camp at the Molas Lake Trailhead, just minutes from Silverton on Highway 550.
After a safety briefing and a hands-on riding lesson, your adventure guide leads the way through snowy meadows and quiet forest inside our 55,000-acre riding area, a stretch of the San Juans open only to Ice Pirates riders and private snowmobile owners. No crowded trails here. You’ll pass by frozen Molas Lake, ringed by towering San Juan peaks, and stop at a historic mining cabin dating back to the 1870s while your guide shares stories from Silverton’s mining days.
This tour works for every age and skill level, so it’s a favorite with beginners, younger riders, families, first dates, and team-building groups. Bring your camera: our guides know all the best photo spots and are happy to snap the shot for your social media bragging rights.

Cancellation Policy
A great deal of preparation accompanies your reservation requiring the following cancellation policy: 50% may be refundable if your reservation is cancelled more than 72 hours (3 days) before the reservation date. Cancellations inside 72 hours of tour or rental departures are not subject to refund and will be charge the full balance. No-shows and late arrivals are not eligible for refunds. Although, a one-time date or time change may be allowed within the same year, based on availability and circumstances. A $15 per person change fee will apply.
