Take an ATV trail riding vacation in the Michigan Upper Peninsula at Wildlife Refuge Cabins. This stay-and-play adventure offers cabin rentals with ATV trails right out the front door.
Rent a RZR and explore the peninsula’s scenic Copper Country off-road on the Bill Nicholls Trail. This off-road trail runs for 41 miles along the historic Copper Range Railroad, which hauled copper ore from the mines until the 1960s. Ride north from South Range and connect with the Hancock/Calumet Trail to take a day trip to Copper Harbor on Lake Superior.
Ride south and take the Bill Nichols trail all the way to Lake of the Clouds for swimming, fishing, hiking, and a gorgeous scenic overlook. Veer off on various detours to discover other Michigan attractions and lakeshores. Explore old mining sites such as the Adventure Mine, one of Michigan’s best-preserved, now open for tours in the Keweenaw National Historical Park.
While off-roading, you’ll take in marshes, hills and valleys, canopy-covered pine and hardwood forest trails, beaver dams, lakes, rivers, and waterfalls. Back in South Range, be sure to visit the Copper Range Historical Museum to learn about the history of the Upper Peninsula.
