In 1965, a T-33 military jet crashed, and the Air Force left the crash site untouched. Two pilots perished in the crash, both veterans of the Korean and Vietnam wars. They were in the process of transporting the plane back to Buckley Air Force base when the plane disappeared off the radar. Parts from the wreckage are scattered all over the mountain, including the jet engine, tail section, and fuselage. The Air Force has established a memorial at the site.
