Established in 2003 as an outfitting and guiding service, Selkirk Powder® Company (SPC) provides snowcat, helicopter, self-propelled, and snowmobile-assisted alpine ski excursions. Uniquely, SPC is also a verified outfitter of Polaris Adventures offering guided snowmobile tours, an AIARE avalanche course provider, and a professional division member of the National Ski Patrol. With license and permits that cover over 200,000 acres of the rugged and beautiful Selkirk Mountain Range, SPC conveniently operates at Schweitzer in Sandpoint, Idaho, one of the largest ski resorts in the United States Pacific Northwest.

Why are guided snowmobile tours with Selkirk Powder Guides so fun and unique? How about the fact that you’ll begin your snowmobiling tour at the top of a ski area? Yep, top of the ski hill—Idaho’s largest! Your adventure begins with us right after you check-in, when we’ll take you up a chairlift from the base of Schweitzer Mountain Resort and show you to our summit lodge where our carefully maintained fleet of Indy snowmobiles are located.

With your guide in the lead, you’ll drive your snowmobile on groomed and ungroomed trails from the top of the mountains down to the valley bottom, stopping at spectacular areas to take photos and learn about some of the rich natural history and lore of our very special area. After returning to our Summit Lodge and reviewing maps of where you’ve toured and perhaps some awesome photos, you’ll once again ride the ski lift back down to the village and take a last stop at our reception area.

"We went on the 5 hour tour and had a BLAST! After scheduled check in you’ll have time to grab coffee and breakfast next door to the booth, and then you’ll be taken to the lift to go up the mountain. The views during the ride are gorgeous and you’ll be able to take a few breaks for photos. Our guide, Sage, was awesome! We definitely went way faster than I thought we would. Lunch is simple: mini sandwiches, cocoa or cider, bottled water and candies. Definitely bring balaclavas or scarves to keep your face warm! Best surprise though?? HAND WARMERS built into the snowmobiled handles."
