About this Adventure

Welcome to Beaverhead Adventures! Born and raised in Southwest Montana, I’ve spent my life in the same mountains and valleys you’re about to ride. Our Polaris Ride Command–equipped machines run on designated motorized roads and trails throughout the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, spanning four mountain ranges and the surrounding public lands.

Starting Hubs

  • Dillon Hub (Primary): 480 N Montana St. 6‑hour and full‑day rides start directly from the shop with no trailering.

  • Apex/Birch Creek: Machines trailered by us 12 mi N to the Birch Creek parking area.

  • Grasshopper Inn (Polaris, MT): Premier stay‑and‑ride basecamp with lodging, food, drinks, and direct trail access.

Zone 1: Pioneer Front (Argenta / Kelly / Black & Baldy Mountains)

Difficulty: Beginner to Expert (Estler Lake area)

Best For: Variety, lakes, mining roads, ridgetop views

Terrain: Sage foothills, timbered slopes, rocky 4x4 connectors

Highlights: Kelly Reservoir lunch ride, Black & Baldy network

Zone 2: Snowcrest / Gravelly Front (Sweetwater / Red Canyon / Rob Ledford Wildlife Management Area)

Difficulty: Beginner to Advanced

Best For: Panoramic views, wildlife, flexible loops

Terrain: Smooth dirt roads, canyons, creek bottoms, high ridges

Highlights: Rob Ledford WMA, Notch & Blacktail mountains views,

Note: Excellent early‑season riding with snow‑covered peaks.

Zone 3: East Pioneers (Birch Creek / Dinner Station / Willow Creek)

Difficulty: Beginner to Intermediate/Advanced

Best For: Families, shaded forest cruising, wildlife

Terrain: Stunning mountain peak views, creek bottoms, and ease of access.

Highlights: Birch Creek Road, Dinner Station Campground (restrooms), Willow Creek drainage (restrooms).

Zone 4: Grasshopper Inn "Stay and Play" Basecamp (Polaris, MT)

Difficulty: Beginner to Expert

Best For: Families, sightseeing, rock hounding, ghost towns, and hot springs. Terrain: Alpine benches, Forest corridors, and meadows,

Highlights: Pioneer Scenic Byway, Crystal Park, Elkhorn mine, Coolidge Ghost Town (walk‑in only), Maverick Mountain Ski area, and Pioneer Mountains Peaks.

Note: Excellent winter basecamp for groomed/ungroomed snowmobile routes.
