Distance: ~220 miles round trip

Total Duration: 6-8 hours with stops

Start Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Experience Oklahomas Historic Route 66 on the Route 66 Tour. This 6-8 hour self-guided Polaris Slingshot tour combines city driving along Route 66, delicious food and historic landmarks along Route 66.

Your trip starts in South OKC headed towards Historic Uptown 23rd Street District.  Drive down NW 23rd street to Tower Theatre and the Route 66 Robot, grab a bite to eat at many of the locations on 23rd street. Cruise to the iconic Braums Milk Bottle before heading out west to Yukon.  On your way to Yukon, travel over the Lake Overholser Truss Bridge. The Truss Bridge is listed as one of the National Historic Places along Route 66. While in Yukon take a photo in front of the Yukon’s Best Flour Mill and then over to the Express Clydesdales Barn. A historic 1930s Clydesdale barn that houses a rare herd of black Clydesdales. On your way to El Reno, you’re going to be getting ready to stop at Sid’s Diner for the famous Oklahoma Fried Onion Burger. Hit Fort Reno before continuing west.  Fort Reno is a 19th century military fort and calvary post.   Leaving El Reno on your way to Hydro, you will pass over the Bridgeport Hill Truss Bridge. The longest pony-truss bridge left on Oklahoma’s stretch of Route 66. In Hydro stop at Lucille’s Service Station-one of the most famous and well preserved-restored gas stations along Route 66 (operating since 1941).  The Weatherford Spaceman is the next to last stop on your ride.  A 30’ astronaut statue honoring local NASA astronaut General Thomas P. Stafford.  If space travel is your vibe—visit the Stafford Air & Space Museum. Clinton is the last stop on your journey.  The home of the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum dedicated to the history and culture of the highway.
