About This Adventure

The Cherohala Skyway is North Carolina’s most expensive scenic highway, carrying a price tag of $100 million when it was completed in 1996. The road winds up and over 5,400-foot mountains for 18 miles in North Carolina before descending another 23 miles in Tennessee. Despite this accolade, this is still one the nation’s best kept secrets! Get ready for ridge after ridge of forested mountainsides with sweeping peaks-and-valleys views as far as the eyes can see. Along the way, you can take frequent pit stops that the abundant and unobstructed scenic overlooks around every corner. Wear your hiking boots to take advantage of the numerous hiking trails along the route and be sure to stop and see several refreshing waterfalls.
This itinerary is 43 miles one way. Be sure to stop for food/gas before or after your ride since there are no stops along the way.

All drivers of off-road vehicles are required to be 18+ years of age with a valid driver’s license. All passengers must be able to grasp a handhold with their hands, plant feet firmly on the ground, and have their back fully against the backrest. Helmets and eye protection are always required to be worn when the vehicle is being operated.
Proper clothing and gear will help you get the most out of your riding experience.
Required safety gear, including helmets, is provided.
Consider dressing in layers: long-sleeve shirt, light jacket or rain jacket, closed-toe shoes, a neck gaiter to wear beneath your helmet
