About This Adventure
If you have more time and want to see more sights, opt for the three-hour guided San Juan Mountain Adventure, which departs daily at 8am, 1am, and 2pm from the Ice Pirates base camp located just minutes from Silverton.
This guided snowmobile tour will take you deeper into the 55,000-acre area of the San Juan Mountains (a range within the Rocky Mountains in southwestern Colorado) that’s accessible only to Ice Pirates riders and private snowmobile owners. No crowded snowmobile trails here—just endless opportunities for exploration.
Your adventure guide will customize the best tour possible, taking you past mining cabins dating back to the 1870s, through dense forest floors, and up above the tree line for unimaginable views. When weather and snow conditions cooperate, you’ll make it all the way to High Point, a gorgeous vista nearly 13,000 feet above sea level (about half the height of Mount Everest) that delivers 360-degree views of the surrounding southern Colorado landscape.
